Strengthening Security: Paul Lyngdoh Advocates for MRSSA Reforms
Meghalaya Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh has stressed the urgent need to enhance the security framework in the state, particularly emphasizing that the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) requires immediate attention. In his remarks, Lyngdoh addressed the ongoing call for the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP), recognizing the state’s persistent efforts to bolster security. He noted that the matter has already received endorsement from the state assembly.
“This demand remains relevant, and at this point, we must also bolster our security mechanisms. The clearance from the central government regarding the ILP may take more time than anticipated,” Lyngdoh stated. He highlighted the need to revise and update the state’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while reinforcing the MRSSA to ensure the safety of residents.
“We are actively working on upgrading and revising our SOPs, and strengthening the MRSSA is crucial for better safety framework,” he added.
