Urgent Investigation: Meghalaya Motocross Racer’s Assault Case Unfolds
Renowned motocross racer Eugene Niangti from Meghalaya was reportedly assaulted by a drunken tourist from Uttar Pradesh at a fun park in the Ri-Bhoi district. Niangti sustained minor injuries but chose not to file a police complaint.
In an interview with PTI, Niangti recounted the incident, stating, “A man hailing from UP, who visited the park along with his group, assaulted me on Saturday. He was under the influence of alcohol.” The confrontation arose after the tourist allegedly vandalized parts of the park’s ‘haunted house.’ When Niangti confronted him about the destruction, the tourist became abusive and physically assaulted him.
The group accompanying the tourist was ultimately asked to leave the park, which they did without incident. When questioned about his decision not to pursue legal action, Niangti explained that he did not want to press charges against the man since he was a visitor.
District Superintendent of Police VS Rathore confirmed that authorities are currently investigating the situation.
