Guwahati police on Wednesday, June 4, conducted a successful anti-drug operation in the Lalmati area, seizing heroin valued at over ₹2 crore (approximately $240,000). The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge Kapil Pathak of the Basistha Police.
Authorities intercepted a truck believed to be transporting narcotics from Manipur. Upon inspection, they discovered 295.5 grams of heroin concealed within 22 soap boxes inside the vehicle.
The estimated market value of the seized heroin exceeds ₹20 million. In connection with this smuggling attempt, two individuals, Sanwar Hussain and Rabial Mia, were arrested. They are currently in custody and being interrogated as investigators work to identify the source and intended distribution network for the drugs.
