Mohammadreza Shadloui has made headlines once again by setting a record in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 12 Player Auction. The former Most Valuable Player was picked up by the Gujarat Giants for an astounding Rs 2.23 crore during the opening bid, marking the third consecutive season he has been auctioned for over Rs 2 crore. This achievement makes him the first player in PKL history to reach this milestone three times.

Alongside Shadloui, another standout from the auction was Devank Dalal, the Best Raider from PKL 11. Dalal, who had previously led the Patna Pirates, was acquired by Bengal Warriorz for Rs 2.205 crore, making him the fifth-most valuable player in this year’s auction.

The PKL 12 Player Auction also introduced a new feature known as the Final Bid Match (FBM) rule. This allows teams to reacquire their released players by matching the last bid for one or two seasons. Dabang Delhi K.C. effectively used this rule to bring back their marquee raider, Ashu Malik, at a cost of Rs 1.90 crore for the next two seasons.

Among the other notable signings from Category A, Tamil Thalaivas acquired Arjun Deshwal for Rs 1.405 crore, while Bengaluru Bulls signed Yogesh Dahiya for Rs 1.125 crore.

Anupam Goswami, Business Head of Mashal Sports and League Chairman of the Pro Kabaddi League, stated that this year’s auction highlighted how performance drives bidding, evidenced by multiple players exceeding the Rs 2 crore mark. He noted that this season saw five players achieving “Crorepati” status, emphasizing the impact of the new FBM rule, which seems to be shaping the competitive landscape as franchises build their teams for another thrilling kabaddi season.

In summary, the Category A signings included Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh for Rs 2.23 crore with Gujarat Giants, Fazel Atrachali for 30 lakhs with Dabang Delhi K.C., Pawan Sehrawat for 59.5 lakhs with Tamil Thalaivas, and several others securing significant contracts, making this auction a landmark event for the league.
