Hailing from Syupuri village in Uttarakhand, the 26-year-old started the fight cautiously, avoiding early punches as he waited for the right moment to strike. His sharp hit to Rangsey’s face set the tone for the bout. Bartwal then effectively trapped his opponent in the corners and executed a well-timed bob-and-weave move midway through the second round, allowing him to land another clean shot. Maintaining tight defense and calculated aggression, he kept Rangsey on the defensive and secured a unanimous decision. India has sent a 19-member squad to this prestigious tournament, which features elite boxers from countries including China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, South Korea, and Thailand. Having been boxing since 2010, Bartwal heads into the last eight with significant momentum and ambitions for a podium finish.
In women’s hockey, the Indian junior team triumphed over Chile 2-1 in their opening match at the Four Nation Tournament in Rosario, Argentina. After falling behind early with a goal from Javeria Saenz of Chile in the 20th minute, India rallied in the second half. Sukhveer Kaur equalized in the 39th minute, followed by Kanika Siwach’s winning goal in the 58th minute, securing a positive start for the Indian squad.
