TPYC Demands Transparency: White Paper on 7 Years of Tripura Jobs Under BJP
The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress (TPYC) has called on Chief Minister Manik Saha to publish a white paper that outlines government sector employment over the last seven years under the BJP administration. During a press conference, TPYC leader Sahajahan Islam criticized the Chief Minister for making inconsistent statements regarding the number of government positions filled during this period.
Islam emphasized that residents are keen to understand how many young people have secured jobs in government departments in Tripura over the past seven years. He cited several figures provided by CM Saha: on December 18, 2024, he claimed that 13,000 posts had been filled; on April 28, 2025, this number increased to 16,942; and just two days prior to the press conference, Saha stated that 19,262 positions of various categories were filled. Based on these statements, Islam noted that approximately 6,000 jobs were filled in the government sector within a span of four to six months.
Furthermore, Islam accused the state government of neglecting the unemployment issue, revealing that Tripura, with a population of about 4.2 million, has roughly 700,000 unemployed youth.
