Harvard University has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in response to President Trump’s decision to revoke the Ivy League institution’s ability to enroll international students. According to a complaint submitted in federal court in Boston and reported by Reuters, Harvard asserts that this action constitutes a “blatant violation” of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, among other federal laws.
The university emphasized that the revocation has had an “immediate and devastating effect” on its operations and the lives of over 7,000 visa holders associated with the institution. The Department of Homeland Security indicated that this escalation in tensions could force more than 6,000 international students currently attending Harvard to either transfer to other universities or risk losing their legal status in the United States.
