Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bikaner, Rajasthan today, where he will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate numerous development projects totaling over ₹26,000 crore. These initiatives span sectors including railways, roadways, power, water, and new and renewable energy. Additionally, Modi will inaugurate 103 redeveloped Amrit Stations across 86 districts in 18 States and Union Territories during his visit.
Upon arriving in Deshnoke, the Prime Minister will first pay his respects at the Karni Mata temple. Following this, he will inaugurate the redeveloped Deshnoke Amrit Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and flag off the Bikaner-Mumbai express train. Modi will also address a public gathering in Palana, Bikaner.
Deshnoke Station is among eight stations scheduled for inauguration by the Prime Minister today. The remaining seven Amrit Stations in Rajasthan include Bundi, Mandalgarh, Gogameri, Govindgarh, Mandawar-Mahuwa Road, Fatehpur Shekhawati, and Rajgarh. Notably, the Deshnoke railway station, catering to visitors of the Karni Mata Temple, features architecture inspired by temple designs and classical arch and column themes.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw noted that out of over 1,300 railway stations earmarked for redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the first batch of 103 Amrit Stations will be inaugurated by Modi in Rajasthan. In remarks to the media during his visit to the redeveloped Deshnoke Amrit Station yesterday, he emphasized that the station has been designed to reflect local cultural heritage and architecture. Furthermore, Vaishnaw revealed that an additional 100 Amrit Stations will be ready within the next eight months, with a goal of completing the redevelopment of approximately 500 stations by 2027.
According to our correspondent, one of the key features of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is that the architectural designs of the redeveloped stations draw inspiration from the local culture and heritage. These stations have been developed at a cost exceeding ₹1,100 crore. Among these Amrit Stations, 19 are located in Uttar Pradesh, 18 in Gujarat, 15 in Maharashtra, 9 in Tamil Nadu, six in Madhya Pradesh, and five each in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka.
The newly redeveloped Amrit stations across India blend modern infrastructure with cultural heritage, offering passenger-focused amenities, including facilities for persons with disabilities, and incorporating sustainable practices to enhance the travel experience. The overarching aim of this initiative is to create cleaner, more comfortable, and user-friendly stations.
