India has officially taken over the Chairmanship of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) for the term of 2025-26 during the ongoing 67th Session of the Governing Body Meeting. A delegation headed by Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Director of APO for India and Secretary in the DPIIT of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is representing India at this session.

As chair, India is dedicated to advancing the strategic objectives of the APO, which include the implementation of APO Vision 2030 and the expansion of the Green Productivity 2.0 framework. During this session, India highlighted its commitment to boosting digital transformation, promoting innovation, enhancing sustainability, and encouraging entrepreneurship throughout the region, sharing its own national initiatives in these fields with fellow member economies.

The Asian Productivity Organization is an intergovernmental body based in Tokyo that aims to improve productivity across the Asia-Pacific region through cooperation and capacity building. The APO comprises 21 economies in the region, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Taiwan, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkiye, and Vietnam. India, as a founding member, has played a vital role in shaping the organization’s agenda and advancing its mission since its inception.
