Transforming Futures: Nvidia, Cisco, and OpenAI Unite to Power the UAE’s Revolutionary Stargate Data Center

U.S. tech leaders Nvidia, Cisco, and OpenAI are teaming up to bolster the innovative “UAE Stargate” artificial intelligence data center, launched earlier this week. This partnership highlights the pivotal role of American tech giants in global technological expansion, providing much-needed infrastructure for AI development.

Nvidia, renowned for its cutting-edge AI chips, will supply its latest Blackwell GB300 systems to the data center. This facility will align with an existing project, also named UAE Stargate, which President Donald Trump announced shortly after his inauguration in January. While Nvidia’s involvement has been confirmed, there is still uncertainty regarding Oracle’s participation; co-founder Larry Ellison played a significant role in the U.S. Stargate announcement.

The Abu Dhabi data center, unveiled on Thursday, is being developed by Emirati technology firm G42, and is set to feature an impressive 5-gigawatt capacity spread over an expansive 10 square miles. This announcement aligns with Trump’s inaugural trip abroad for his second term, which also included a visit to Saudi Arabia. Significant figures from the tech industry were present during this pivotal event, including Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son, and Cisco’s Jeetu Patel.

While OpenAI withheld comments on the new project, the first phase of UAE Stargate is expected to feature a 1-gigawatt compute cluster. In February, OpenAI suggested its intentions to potentially establish U.S. Stargate campuses in 16 states, all of which demonstrated strong interest in the initiative. These states include Arizona, California, Florida, and Texas, among others. Construction is already underway in Abilene, Texas, with a projected completion date in mid-2026.

Furthermore, during a visit to Saudi Arabia, Huang announced that Nvidia plans to supply 18,000 Blackwell chips to Humain, a Saudi company investing heavily in AI infrastructure. The GB300 chips, revealed earlier this year, will support data centers totaling 500 megawatts across the kingdom. AMD has also committed to providing chips for Humain, which has pledged a staggering $10 billion to this ambitious project.

As the tech landscape continues to evolve, the collaboration between these industry giants emphasizes the increasing synergy between U.S. and Middle Eastern tech initiatives. With daunting capacities and innovative technologies in the pipeline, the UAE Stargate data center stands as a hallmark of this burgeoning partnership in artificial intelligence and data infrastructure development.
