Gangtok buzzed with life as celebrations unfolded at Paljor Stadium and Manan Kendra, where citizens and dignitaries gathered to reflect on the state’s progress over the past five decades. According to reports from All India Radio, the festivities harmoniously blended traditional elements with forward-looking initiatives.
The day kicked off with a ceremonial parade honoring Sikkim’s first Chief Minister, L.D. Kazi. In a heartfelt tribute, organizers illuminated butter lamps in his memory, creating a tone that was both solemn and proud. Notable marathoner Shanti Ram Nepal led a symbolic “Run for Unity,” culminating at Paljor Stadium.
