A significant milestone in Nagaland’s pursuit of global recognition in the specialty coffee sector was marked by the participation of a nine-member delegation at the COFFEX ISTANBUL EXPO 2025, which took place from May 9 to 11 in Istanbul, Turkey. The delegation, led by G. Ikuto Zhimomi, Advisor for the Land Resources Department of Nagaland, included key figures such as former Commissioner and Secretary, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, NCS; Additional Director Hekato N; and five notable coffee entrepreneurs from the state, representing brands like Nagaland Coffee, Été Coffee, Juro Coffee, YES Coffee, and Coffee Lady.
This opportunity was facilitated by the Consulate General of India in Istanbul, Mijito Vinito Chishi, who worked closely with the Coffee Board of India and Turkish authorities to ensure the delegation’s impactful presence. This initiative aligns with the Department of Land Resources’ ambition to showcase Nagaland’s distinctive coffee offerings on global platforms.
COFFEX ISTANBUL is a leading international coffee trade fair that attracts industry leaders, roasters, growers, and coffee aficionados from the Middle East and beyond. For the Nagaland team, the event proved to be a valuable platform, offering insights into global trends related to coffee cultivation, processing technologies, flavor profiling, sustainable innovations, and market dynamics.
Throughout the three-day event, the delegation was actively engaged in cupping sessions, technical workshops, and business-to-business interactions with international buyers and stakeholders. These experiences provided invaluable opportunities to explore potential collaborations, deepen their understanding of pricing strategies, and gain insights into consumer preferences. Such engagements are crucial for strengthening international ties within Nagaland’s coffee industry and promoting its unique products on a broader scale.
