Himanta Biswa Sarma Takes Bold Steps Against Land Scams and Corruption
During his visit to Kochutoli in Sonapur on May 14, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed crucial issues concerning his political constituency, ongoing development projects, and law enforcement measures. In a statement about his political future, Sarma affirmed, “Jalukbari is my own constituency, and I will contest the elections there. I will do whatever the party decides for me.”
Sarma underscored the state’s development plans, particularly in Jorhat, announcing, “In Jorhat, we will carry out many developmental works,” which highlights his emphasis on improving the region’s infrastructure and supporting community growth.
The Chief Minister also tackled the pressing issue of land scams, declaring that his administration would take stringent actions. He stated, “We will arrest the brokers involved in land scams under the NSA (National Security Act). The people occupying land want to leave, but the brokers are bringing them back.” This commitment signals the government’s dedication to combating illegal land occupations and scams.
In addition, Sarma provided an update on security-related infrastructure plans. He announced that construction for a police battalion in Kochutoli, Sonapur, would begin within the next six months. This initiative aims to enhance law enforcement capabilities in the area, ultimately ensuring better security and governance.
