PM Modi Addresses Peace: A New Era Beyond Terror and War

NEW DELHI, (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday termed Pakistan as a living example of state-sponsored terrorism, laying out the renewed framework of India’s robust anti-terror policy. He emphasized a strong response to any threats, regardless of the possibility of ‘nuclear blackmail’, asserting that this is neither an ‘era of terror’ nor an ‘era of war’.

In a special video address to the nation, PM Modi delivered a stern message to Pakistan: “Terror and talk, terror and trade, and water and blood cannot coexist. Talks with Pakistan will only focus on terrorism.” He acknowledged the observance of Buddha Purnima, a day symbolizing peace, but reassured that India would not hesitate to use its strength to maintain it.

The Prime Minister also praised the armed forces and reinforced the government’s capacity to make decisive actions through its “Nation First” policy. He warned that Pakistan’s own terror infrastructure would lead to its demise, highlighting India’s military actions that targeted terror hubs within Pakistan, which also included the destruction of defense facilities in response to attacks on India that claimed the lives of around 100 terrorists.

Earlier, PM Modi convened a high-level meeting to evaluate the outcomes of Operation Sindoor, attended by key government officials, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s residence in the capital and was attended by military leaders, including the Chief of Defence Staff and heads of the army, navy, and air force.

Also present were Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director Tapan Deka, and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief Ravi Sinha. This strategic meeting followed India’s recent understanding with Pakistan regarding a ceasefire, an agreement that led to direct communication between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both countries scheduled for May 12. The ceasefire was prompted by severe airstrikes from the Indian Air Force that incapacitated 11 of Pakistan’s airbases.

This development comes as both DGMOs prepare for a telephone discussion around 5 p.m. on Monday, aimed at confirming the ceasefire’s continuation and discussing further measures to de-escalate tensions.
