Four Wheeler Accident in Guwahati: Driver Loses Control, Falls into Drain
GUWAHATI: On the evening of May 12, a speeding four-wheeler lost control, skidded off the road, and plunged into a roadside drain at 9th Mile. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred near the Jorabat area.
Local officials confirmed that the vehicle was later retrieved by police personnel from the Jorabat Outpost. A traffic official stated to GPlus, “There were no major injuries as it was not a significant accident. The vehicle veered towards the drain, and the driver lost control. We have recovered the vehicle, and the process to hand it over is currently underway.”
The driver’s identity has not been released, and authorities are treating the matter as a routine case, indicating no signs of foul play or external interference.
An eyewitness reported to GPlus that the driver had been challenged to a race by occupants of a passing vehicle. Initially declining the challenge, the driver eventually accepted, which led to speeding and ultimately losing control of the car, resulting in it landing in the drain and overturning.
This incident is part of a troubling trend, as the area has recently witnessed a noticeable increase in accidents and collisions, raising significant concerns about road safety.
