Telangana Se Chhattisgarh Ke 38 Maoist Ki Sardari: Ek Nayi Shuruaat Ki Kahani
Thirty-eight individuals linked to the banned CPI(Maoist) surrendered to the Superintendent of Police in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Telangana, on Friday. These individuals are all from Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh. This significant surrender comes in the wake of intensified police action following the tragic deaths of three Greyhounds commandos in a landmine explosion in Mulugu earlier this week.
Among those who surrendered were 16 militia members, 7 village committee members, 6 members of the Krantikari Adivasi Mahila Sangathan, 3 members from Chetna Natya Manch, and 4 from the Guerrilla Regimental Division. The police reported that the decision to lay down arms was influenced by awareness of the welfare programs available for former Maoists and the initiatives under Operation Cheyutha aimed at rehabilitation.
B Rohit Raju, Superintendent of Police for Bhadradri Kothagudem, remarked on their shift, highlighting that the welfare measures and the outreach efforts of the police have been key factors in encouraging these individuals to abandon their armed struggle.
