The Indian International Performing Artists Consortium (IIPAC) is gearing up to host the inaugural Founders’ Day celebration for its initiative, Kalasamanvay, on April 26 in Guwahati. This event is set to be a vibrant showcase of artistic talent and cultural reflection, featuring a lineup of performances, tributes, and scholarly discussions, all dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of arts, culture, and literature.
A major highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the prestigious Kalasamanvay Lifetime Achievement Award to three prominent figures from Assam. The honorees include Kirti Kamal Bhuyan, recognized for his exceptional contributions to literature; Pulak Banerjee, celebrated for his work in art and culture; and Damodar Prasad Bajaj, acknowledged for his relentless dedication to social service. These awards aim to honor individuals who have significantly contributed to enriching the cultural and social landscape of the region.
The event will be attended by distinguished guests, with Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury serving as the chief guest, and Dr. Usharanjan Bhattacharjee and Manisha Hazarika as guests of honor. Their presence underscores the significance of the occasion, reflecting the commitment to not only preserving but also celebrating the diverse artistic heritage of India.
In addition to the awards, the program promises a rich tapestry of performances. Highlights include a research-based musical ensemble exploring the essence of Raga music through the compositions of legendary composer Salil Choudhury. This will be followed by a group recitation from young performers, who will delve into the philosophical depths of poetry by Rabindranath Tagore and Jyotiprasad Agarwala. The night will culminate with a soulful performance by renowned Bengali singer Sreeradha Bandopadhyay, anticipated to captivate the audience with her enchanting voice.
The Secretary of IIPAC articulated the vision for Kalasamanvay, stating, “This evening is going to be more than a performance; it is an exploration, a celebration of the analytical and creative dimensions that shape our cultural expressions.
