Generous Arunachal MLA Gives 7 Months’ Pay to Flood-hit Families
Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering, popularly known as Awo Phurpa, has donated seven months of his salary-Rs 7.5 lakh-to relief and rehabilitation for families hit by recent floods and landslides in Keyi Panyor district, Arunachal Pradesh. The contribution aims to provide immediate financial support as recovery work continues in the affected areas.
Announcing the donation, Phurpa Tsering said the state was going through a challenging period and appealed to residents to come together to help those who have lost homes, property or livelihoods in the disaster. He urged people and local leaders in Dirang to stand with the victims and extend every possible assistance during the crisis.
The cash assistance will be used to aid flood-affected families while relief teams and authorities carry out rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations across the district. The donation comes amid wider relief initiatives by individuals, organisations and public representatives across Arunachal Pradesh.
Keyi Panyor is among the worst-hit districts, where heavy rains in recent weeks triggered flash floods and landslides that damaged infrastructure, homes and agricultural holdings. Authorities and relief agencies continue to assist residents as rehabilitation efforts remain underway.
Phurpa Tsering’s contribution highlights a growing response from community leaders and the public as the state mobilises resources to rebuild lives and restore services in flood-affected areas.
