Belagavi Mayor Mangesh Pawar Resolves E-Khata Confusion: A Bold Step Towards Clarity and Empowerment
In a recent interaction with journalists in Belagavi, Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) Mayor Mangesh Pawar addressed pressing concerns regarding the issuance of e-khatas in the city. The event, held on April 5, 2025, saw attendance from key figures, including Deputy Mayor Vani Vilas Joshi and MLA Abhay Patil, as well as journalists and officials. Amid growing confusion over e-khatas—digital records of property transactions—Mayor Pawar assured residents that decisive steps would be taken to resolve the ongoing issues. He acknowledged the complaints received by his office about delays and complexities in obtaining these e-khatas and committed to streamlining the process. “We’ve already held meetings with officials to address this. We will release a comprehensive list of necessary documents for e-khata procurement and establish a dedicated desk for handling grievances,” he stated. The Mayor also indicated a willingness to consider requests for the Mayor and Deputy Mayor to hold public grievance meetings across various wards.
Additionally, Mayor Pawar emphasized the importance of infrastructure improvement ahead of the rainy season. He announced plans for road repairs and enhancements to the drainage system to avert waterlogging. Ensuring an uninterrupted water supply during the summer months also ranks high on the BCC’s agenda. While clarifying that there is currently no water scarcity in Belagavi, he highlighted ongoing efforts to complete pending drinking water projects, promising a deadline for their completion. “We will simplify the procedure for obtaining permissions for water supply projects, underlining that licences for water can distribution businesses are not necessary,” he affirmed.
Sharing his insights at the meeting, MLA Abhay Patil discussed the forward-thinking water supply strategy, designed to accommodate Belagavi’s projected population growth over the next 25 years. He revealed significant progress in extending water services. “Nearly 88% of all bore wells are now equipped with pump sets, and more than 90,000 new tap connections have been introduced,” Patil reported, underscoring the area’s infrastructural developments.
The interaction also touched upon waste management improvements and health initiatives. Deputy Mayor Vani Vilas Joshi announced plans for an advanced waste collection system and urged the public to participate actively in waste segregation. In response to journalists’ concerns about health care provisions, she pledged to consider increasing the budgetary limits for their health care scheme. Throughout the interaction, a range of issues, including infrastructure, waste management, and the status of delayed projects, were discussed, reflecting the local government’s commitment to addressing resident concerns comprehensively.
The meeting was well-attended by notable journalists and officers, with Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Gurunath Kadabur and Belagavi Journalists Association President Vilas Joshi offering their support. As the city grapples with a growing demand for digital property transaction systems and urban development, the proactive measures promised by Belagavi’s leadership aim to enhance convenience and quality of life for its residents.
