Celebrating Unity and Heritage: Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram Foundation Day Commemorated with Pride at Assam Raj Bhavan – Northeast News
Guwahati: Under the leadership of Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Raj Bhavan Assam celebrated the foundation day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram on Sunday at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University auditorium. The event highlighted the rich cultural diversity and heritage of the two states, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative. Governor Acharya emphasized that celebrating statehood days encourages citizens to explore diverse traditions, languages, and cultural contributions, fostering mutual cooperation and unity.
Acharya described India as a “living example of ‘Unity in Diversity,’” showcasing how each state’s unique traditions and cultures contribute to the nation’s strong collective identity. He also noted that India’s hallmark of unity amid diversity sets it apart globally.
Highlighting Arunachal Pradesh’s strategic importance, Acharya praised the state for safeguarding India’s borders, commending the dedication of the army, paramilitary forces, and local citizens. He described their bravery and patriotism as inspirational for the entire nation.
Turning to Mizoram, the governor celebrated the state’s cultural richness, particularly in music, dance, and social harmony. He lauded Mizoram’s ability to preserve traditional values while embracing modernity. Acharya also recognized Mizoram’s lush landscapes and its contributions to environmental conservation, emphasizing the state’s role in maintaining India’s climate and environmental health.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Biswajit Daimary; Gauhati High Court Justice Michael Zothankhuma; and various other esteemed guests. The gathering celebrated the unique cultural identities of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, reinforcing the importance of respecting and understanding India’s diverse cultures.
