Tragic Loss: South Korean Star Kim Sae-ron Found Dead at 24, Police Confirm No Foul Play
South Korean actor Kim Sae-ron was discovered dead in her Seoul home in the Seongsu-dong district, as confirmed by local police on Sunday. The 24-year-old was found by a friend at approximately 4:55 pm local time (07:55 GMT), who then notified the authorities. Police have stated there are no apparent signs of foul play, but the cause of death remains under investigation.
Kim Sae-ron started her acting career as a child and quickly emerged as one of South Korea’s promising talents. She garnered international acclaim with her performance in “A Brand New Life” (2009), which was showcased at the Cannes Film Festival. Her subsequent roles in “The Man from Nowhere” (2010), the highest-grossing South Korean film of that year, and “The Neighbour” (2012) further established her reputation, earning her considerable critical praise.
However, Kim’s career faced challenges after a 2022 drunk driving incident, which resulted in a fine of 20 million won (£11,000) in 2023. The controversy also affected her professional engagements, leading to a significant reduction of her role in the Netflix series “Bloodhounds.”
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her untimely death.
