Breaking News: Notorious Extortionist Arrested in South Manipur, Bringing Relief to the Community
Imphal: A man identified as Yumlembam Arunkumar Singh, also known as Chingkhei, aged 36, has been detained for his alleged involvement in extortion and unlawful activities in southern Manipur. Singh is purportedly linked with the outlawed group, People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak – Progressive (PREPAK-Pro). His arrest took place at a hideout in the Bishnupur District on Saturday night, according to a police spokesperson.
Hailing from Okshongbung Maning Leikai under Moirang police station, Singh is accused of participating in extortion and other anti-social actions within the southern region of Bishnupur District over recent months. The police took action following a series of complaints about Singh’s intimidation tactics to illicitly collect money from civilians.
During his arrest, authorities seized several incriminating items, including demand letters from an underground organization, a mobile phone with an Airtel SIM card, and an Aadhaar card. The arrest is a crucial step in the crackdown against unlawful activities and intimidation tactics in the region, aiming to ensure safety and security for the local populace.
