Breaking: Loyal BJP MLAs Set to Shine in New Delhi Cabinet Shakeup
Newly elected legislators in Delhi, who have ascended through the ranks of the BJP, are anticipated to be prioritized in the formation of the new Council of Ministers, according to party insiders. However, senior leaders such as former Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely and former Congress minister Rajkumar Chauhan are still under consideration for the seven-member Delhi Cabinet.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return to the capital is expected to prompt a meeting of the BJP’s 11-member Parliamentary Board on Saturday. This meeting will set the stage for appointing observers, a blend of senior figures, including a Chief Minister from a BJP-ruled state and a Union Cabinet MP, to oversee a gathering of the legislature party’s 48 newly elected MLAs.
While the final decisions on the Cabinet and Chief Minister will require the Prime Minister’s endorsement, the RSS and BJP leadership have outlined a selection framework that emphasizes youth, gender, caste, community, and organizational experience. The BJP aims to balance youthful vigor with seasoned experience within the Cabinet, the Assembly, and the party’s state organization to enhance inclusiveness and reflect the diverse profile of a “global city.”
“A prominent focus is on showcasing that the dedication and loyalty of average BJP workers are acknowledged and rewarded. Therefore, new MLAs with extensive backgrounds in the BJP’s organization will likely receive preference,” a senior leader explained. However, the contributions of leaders like Lovely, who integrated four former Congress MLAs into the BJP—three of whom succeeded in recent elections—will not be overlooked, underscoring a strategic effort to merge new leadership with seasoned political experience.
