Transforming Arunachal: Global Industrialists Excited to Revolutionize the Fruit Processing Industry at Upcoming Mega Food Park
Arunachal Pradesh is set to experience significant growth in its agricultural and industrial sectors with the upcoming Mega Food Park. Esteemed global industrialists Rishi Kalra, Pankaj, and Rakesh Suresh, alongside lead promoter Likha Maj, recently visited the site, aiming to establish a versatile fruit-based processing industry. This initiative, endorsed by Barker Honley Global, is expected to demand up to 70,000 MTs of raw materials monthly, potentially transforming the state’s agricultural economy.
The park, sprawled over 75 acres, will incorporate a diverse range of agricultural pursuits, including a 200-hectare rubber plantation, 100 hectares dedicated to Thailand’s seedless lemons, as well as livestock farms such as piggery, goat farming, freshwater fisheries, and duckery. Such wide-ranging activities are designed to enhance collaboration between agriculture and industry, bolstering local economies.
A unique aspect of the project is its focus on converting waste products from the Ziro region into profitable bio-products, thereby adding value from garden to market. This aligns with the vision for Arunachal Pradesh to emerge as a major food hub in India, capitalizing on its abundant land resources.
Likha Maj emphasized the importance of strategic planning in developing the state’s agriculture and horticulture sectors. He advocated for efficient policy implementation, proposing swift single-window clearance processes to facilitate the establishment of agro-based industries. These reforms aim to improve the ease of doing business in the region, thereby attracting more investors.
Strategically located just 29 km from Itanagar, 15 km from Donyi Polo Airport, and 7 km from Harmuti railway station, the Mega Food Park is poised to be a catalyst for industrial growth. Its location is not only ideal for industry but could also stimulate tourism in the area, positioning Arunachal Pradesh as a pivotal player in India’s agricultural landscape.
