Celebrating Valor and Honor: Seven Tripura Police Heroes to Receive Prestigious President’s Medals on Republic Day!
Agartala, 25th January 2025: Seven distinguished members of the Tripura Police have been honored with prestigious awards for their outstanding service, coinciding with the Republic Day 2025 celebrations. The officers were recipients of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM), highlighting their exceptional commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
This year, a nationwide total of 942 personnel from various services, including Police, Fire, Home Guard & Civil Defence (HG&CD), and Correctional Services, received Gallantry and Service Medals. The PSM is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated an extraordinary and distinguished record of service, while the MSM honors those who have shown dedicated and resourceful performance.
Of the 101 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service distributed this year, 85 were given to Police Service personnel across the country. From Tripura, Goduguluri Srinivasa Rao, the Additional Director General of Police, was among the distinguished honorees. Additionally, 746 Medals for Meritorious Service were awarded, with 634 allocated to Police Service personnel. Tripura’s awardees include Bijoy Debbarma, Superintendent of Police; Manik Das, Superintendent of Police; Panna Lal Sen, Deputy Superintendent of Police; Ajoy Debbarma, Deputy Superintendent of Police; Shyamal Debbarma, Deputy Superintendent of Police; and Niranjan Debbarma, Subedar.
These awards serve as a testament to the dedication and service exhibited by the Tripura Police, underscoring their pivotal role in community welfare and the preservation of public safety. Their recognition on such a prominent national occasion highlights not only individual excellence but also the collective effort of the police force in safeguarding the region.
