Exciting Unveiling: Arunachal CM Showcases Iconic T-55 Tank in Changlang to Stir Patriotism
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu recently unveiled a decommissioned T-55 Russian-made tank at the World War II Cemetery in Jairampur, Changlang district, marking a significant moment in celebrating India’s military history. Originally inducted into the Indian Army in 1965, this tank stands as a powerful symbol of India’s armoured warfare legacy. Khandu took to social media to express his pride, describing the tank as a “war trophy” and a testament to the bravery and dedication of Indian soldiers.
The unveiling event highlights a broader initiative to honor the country’s military heritage. This initiative, spearheaded by Lt Col TC Tayum, aims to inspire patriotism and nationalism, particularly among the youth. Currently, four decommissioned tanks are displayed across Arunachal Pradesh, with plans for a total of eight to be exhibited at various locations.
Khandu emphasized that while these tanks once roared on battlefields, they now serve to instill a sense of pride and remembrance for the sacrifices made by India’s military personnel. This initiative seeks to keep alive the memory of India’s military heroes, ensuring that their legacy is appreciated by younger generations.
In summary, the unveiling of the T-55 tank not only honors historical military achievements but also acts as a source of inspiration and national pride, underlining the importance of remembering and celebrating the nation’s armed forces.
