PASIGHAT, 19 Jan: At the Adi-Apatani Summit-2025 in East Siang district, Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasized the triumph of unity and commitment to community harmony between the Adi and Apatani tribes. He lauded a historic joint declaration signed by the Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) and Tanii Supun Dukun (TSD), which aims to preserve peaceful coexistence and communal harmony. Highlighting the age-old connection between the tribes, rooted in shared ancestry, Khandu stressed the importance of addressing modern differences with maturity and respect.
The summit underscored a prohibition on traditional revenge customs while promoting inter-tribe marriages, cultural exchanges, and festivals. Khandu commended the communities’ leadership in setting an example for the entire state, stating that such initiatives contribute to a future free from fear and division. Echoing these sentiments, Home Minister Mama Natung praised the summit as a model for other organizations, aligning with the vision of unity and progress, while also addressing challenges such as drug abuse.
MP Tapir Gao recognized the potential of the summit declaration to effect change at grassroots levels, and Minister Ojing Tasing noted the opportunity for mutual learning between the communities. Mishmi Welfare Society president Matheim Linggi and MLA Hage Appa highlighted the summit’s inspiring impact for future generations.
Khandu assured the state government’s support for initiatives fostering peace and cultural heritage preservation. He urged youths to embrace diversity and uphold communal values, reinforcing Arunachal Pradesh’s narrative of unity and progress.
