Shocking Betrayal: 44 Arrested in Kerala for Heinous Gang Rape of Teenager Over Five Years
Kerala Police have arrested 44 men and filed 30 FIRs implicating 59 individuals in a disturbing case of gang rape involving a Dalit teenager over a period of five years. The victim, now 18, suffered repeated assaults by 62 men, including sports trainers and classmates, since she was 13. These heinous acts took place at locations such as a bus stand, a rubber plantation, and even at a hospital in Pathanamthitta earlier this year.
The abuse came to light after the victim’s school teachers reported her troubling behavioral changes to the Child Welfare Committee during a counseling session. In response, the police have launched an intensive investigation, focusing on gathering essential scientific evidence, including mobile data and documentation.
To ensure a thorough probe, a Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Deputy Superintendent of Police PS Nandakumar and supervised by District Police Chief VG Vinod Kumar, has been formed. This SIT comprises over 30 officers, including female personnel, from various departments.
Two suspects, currently believed to be abroad, remain at large, prompting authorities to issue international arrest warrants through Interpol. Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women has demanded the swift arrest of the outstanding suspects and a comprehensive investigation report within three days.
