IMPHAL: Security Forces Recover 19 Weapons in Manipur Joint Operations
In a coordinated effort, security forces successfully recovered 19 weapons along with ammunition and explosives from conflict-affected districts in Manipur during joint operations conducted between January 6 and January 9. According to an official release on Monday, these recoveries occurred in the districts of Thoubal, Kangpokpi, Churchandpur, and Kakching.
The operations were spearheaded by the Assam Rifles under the operational control of the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Manipur Police. Acting on intelligence inputs, the teams targeted strategic locations in both hill and valley regions.
Among the items seized were rifles, pistols, an improvised mortar, and various explosives. Specific operations in Irong village of Thoubal district and Sekmaijin in Kakching district resulted in the recovery of a Self Loading Rifle, a Single Barrel Rifle, three 9mm pistols, grenades, and substantial ammunition.
These successful recoveries underscore the ongoing efforts of security forces to maintain peace and stability in Manipur amidst ethnic unrest.
