Northeast Frontier Railway Achieves Significant CAPEX Utilization in Fiscal 2024-25
Guwahati, Jan. 10: The Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has reported impressive progress in capital expenditure (CAPEX) for the fiscal year 2024-25, nearing complete utilization of its allocated budget. NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma announced that 99.24% of funds dedicated to capacity augmentation projects have already been utilized. Meanwhile, funding allocations for various strategic developments also show significant progress: 75.51% for doubling works, 60.78% for safety-related projects, 71.43% for the construction of new road over bridges and under bridges, and 71.96% for bridge-related tasks.
Sharma highlighted the importance of capital expenditure for the railways, stating that these investments are crucial for creating assets that enhance safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort. Moreover, he noted that such developments have a cascading positive effect on the economy, generating demand, income, and employment opportunities. The Indian Railways, as a whole, has also demonstrated commendable performance in optimizing its capital budget, according to Sharma. The NFR’s achievements underscore its commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth within the region.
