Triumphant Celebration: Gunotsav 2025 Phase 1 Concludes with Success in Assam – Inspiring Northeast News
The first phase of Gunotsav 2025, an educational initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of education in Assam, concluded successfully on Thursday. The program, spanning January 6 to 9, evaluated the academic and non-academic performance of over 1.33 million students from Classes I to IX across 11 districts: Barpeta, Bajali, Sribhumi, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Sivasagar, South Salmara-Mankachar, and Udalguri.
The evaluations took place in 15,072 schools, including government-run and provincialised schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, Model Schools in Tea Gardens, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, among others. A robust team of 16,160 external evaluators, comprising IAS, IPS, and other senior officials, conducted thorough assessments focusing on key academic skills such as reading, writing, and numeracy, alongside co-scholastic and infrastructural aspects.
Community engagement was a pivotal part of the program, with evaluators interacting extensively with students, teachers, parents, and local communities. The initiative garnered support from prominent leaders, including Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Sports and Power Minister Nandita Gorlosa, and dignitaries like Chandra Mohan Patowary, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving education standards.
The assessments have provided valuable insights into Assam’s educational infrastructure and student learning outcomes, paving the way for necessary reforms. A significant focus was also placed on evaluating infrastructure and community participation as part of the holistic development criteria.
The second phase of Gunotsav 2025 is scheduled from January 17 to 22, targeting 14 more districts, including Baksa, Charaideo, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Golaghat, and Kamrup Metro. An anticipated 14.15 lakh students across 15,663 schools will undergo evaluation, with over 6,200 external evaluators participating. This phase will include a self-evaluation process beginning January 17, followed by external evaluations from January 20 to 22.
Gunotsav 2025 exemplifies the Assam government’s dedication to elevating educational standards and ensuring that every student receives quality education by addressing and bridging the existing gaps.
