Justice Served: Heartfelt Relief as Predators Face 20-Year Sentence for Raping Minor in Chirang
The Sessions Court in Chirang District has sentenced Ratan Kisku and Thomas Kisku to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the gang rape of a 17-year-old minor. The crime occurred in March 2023 in the Garubhasha Police Outpost area, under the Sidli Police Station’s jurisdiction. Both individuals were found guilty under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court levied a fine of 50,000 rupees on each convict. Should they fail to pay the fine, they would face an additional two years of imprisonment. This verdict reinforces the judicial system’s strong stance against crimes involving minors and underscores the strict penalties associated with such offenses under the POCSO Act.
