New Delhi, Jan 5: In a robust address at the BJP’s first public rally in Rohini, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Delhi voters to elect the BJP in the forthcoming assembly elections, targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) with sharp criticisms. Modi labeled the AAP as a “disaster” for Delhi, coining the phrase “AAP-da,” and accused the Kejriwal-led administration of prioritizing their own interests over public welfare, even during the COVID-19 crisis. He reassured voters that existing welfare schemes would continue under BJP governance.
Highlighting infrastructure issues, Modi criticized the AAP for the capital’s woes, such as water shortages, waterlogging, and pollution. He emphasized the potential for synchronized development with BJP leadership at both state and central levels.
Accusing the AAP of spreading fear about the discontinuation of welfare schemes, Modi promised the BJP would enhance central programs stalled by the current state government. He outlined commitments to improving education, safety, and economic opportunities for women and promised a focus on comprehensive urban development.
Modi called for Delhi to envision itself as a global capital, reflecting Indian heritage and modern systems, proposing that only a BJP-led government could realize this potential.
His remarks follow a backdrop of nationwide initiatives including the expansion of the Metro network and inaugurating regional rapid transit corridors. As Delhi prepares for elections, Modi’s rally sought to galvanize public support, portraying the BJP as the catalyst for change and development. The Prime Minister’s appeal comes amidst a decade of AAP rule, during which the BJP has focused on regaining power in the capital following its last tenure in 1998.
