Empowering Future Generations: Delhi Govt’s Bold Vision in Building Colleges and Universities | CM Atishi’s Inspiring Pledge
Chief Minister Atishi inaugurated a new academic block at Jhimil’s Government Girls Senior Secondary School (GBSSS) on Friday, showcasing the Delhi government’s achievements in higher education. As both the Chief Minister and Education Minister, Atishi addressed parental concerns regarding post-school futures. She highlighted the government’s decade-long commitment not only to improving school education but also to enhancing higher education infrastructure. Since 2013, Delhi has nearly doubled its college seats from 83,600 to 1,55,000, thanks to the establishment of new universities and expansion of existing ones.
Atishi emphasized the impact of new institutions like the Delhi Sports University, Delhi Teachers’ University, and six new university campuses on raising educational standards. She celebrated achievements such as the Indira Gandhi Technical University for Women, where students, including one who secured a job package of Rs 82 lakh, benefit from quality education. Major companies like Toyota, Maruti, and Microsoft are actively recruiting from Delhi’s universities, underscoring the value of these educational advancements.
The newly constructed block at GBSSS encompasses 46 rooms, featuring 25 classrooms, a principal’s office, a staff room, and six laboratories. The facility also includes eight toilets and an elevator. The school will operate in two shifts to accommodate a total of 2,622 students across morning and evening sessions. With these additions, the school will now offer comprehensive courses in Commerce, Arts, and Science.
This development marks a significant step in the Delhi government’s ongoing mission to enhance educational opportunities for its youth, creating pathways for future success and expanding the horizons of higher education.
