Tripura’s Bold Initiative: CM Saha Champions Folk Culture Revival and Empowers Scheduled Caste Communities
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to preserving folk culture and advancing the development of Scheduled Caste (SC) communities. This announcement came during the inauguration of a three-day festival celebrating the 111th birth anniversary of renowned literary figure Advaita Mallabarman. Mallabarman, who passed away at 37, made a significant impact on Indian literature with works such as his acclaimed novel ‘Titas Ekti Nadir Naam’.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Saha lauded Mallabarman’s profound contributions to Bengali literature, highlighting how his novels, essays, and translations continue to inspire future generations. Saha depicted the author’s life as a testament to resilience and creativity, noting Mallabarman’s personal battles with poverty and his unwavering dedication to literature as a source of inspiration.
In addition to paying homage to Mallabarman, the chief minister emphasized the government’s continuous efforts to support and uplift marginalized communities. Saha elaborated on several welfare initiatives led by the Tripura government and the Department of Scheduled Caste Welfare since 2018-19. Programs such as the Prime Minister Adarsh Gram Yojana, Babu Jagjivan Ram Hostel Scheme, and various self-reliance initiatives have provided significant benefits to thousands of SC families, supported by substantial financial resources.
The festival not only celebrated Mallabarman’s enduring legacy but also highlighted the government’s dedication to cultural preservation and social welfare. Minister of Scheduled Caste Welfare Sudhanshu Das, along with MLAs Kishore Barman and Pinaki Das Chowdhury, and other officials from the SC Welfare Department, graced the event with their presence.
This occasion underscored the Tripura government’s firm resolve to foster cultural heritage and propel the socio-economic progress of underprivileged communities, aligning with the inspiring legacy of Advaita Mallabarman.
