Shocking Flop: Varun Dhawan’s Film Pulled from Theaters After Box Office Disaster, Earning a Mere Rs…
Varun Dhawan’s much-anticipated film “Baby John” has hit a significant roadblock at the box office. Released across 3,500 screens, the film kicked off with a decent opening day collection of Rs 11.25 crore. Despite the strategic release over the festive Christmas and New Year’s period, the movie struggled to maintain momentum. On the second day, it experienced a sharp decline in earnings, and by the ninth day, the numbers continued to disappoint.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, “Baby John” has garnered a total of Rs 36.40 crore, which includes its initial opening. The eighth day recorded earnings of Rs 2.75 crore, and December 31, a profitable day for most films, saw just Rs 2.15 crore. Surprisingly, New Year’s Eve and January 1 failed to provide the expected boost. By Day 9, afternoon earnings had plummeted to Rs 18 lakh, with the domestic collection standing at Rs 35.58 crore.
The underperformance has led to the film being pulled from many single-screen theatres due to low demand, marking a significant setback for Varun Dhawan’s project. Projections suggest a potential lifetime worldwide collection of Rs 60 crore, far from initial expectations.
Interestingly, while “Baby John” struggles, Allu Arjun’s blockbuster “Pushpa 2” continues to thrive at the box office, overshadowing even new releases like “Mufasa: The Lion King.”
Overall, “Baby John” faced substantial challenges in capturing the audience’s interest, despite initial expectations of a strong festive performance.
