Exciting Boost: Assam’s Bold Rs 10 Crore Commitment Accelerates Rabha Hasong Council Construction
In a pivotal meeting in Dudhnoi, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled plans for the advancement of the Rabha Hasong community, signifying the government’s commitment to addressing their historical demands. Highlighting this move, the Assam state government has allocated ₹10 crore to expedite the construction of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC), which promises to enhance the council’s infrastructure and efficiency.
Additionally, the state has put forth a proposal to the Central government for granting constitutional validity to the RHAC and supports a tripartite agreement to cement this initiative. In an assurance to the Rabha Hasong people, Dr. Sarma reiterated the government’s pledge to safeguard their social, cultural, economic, academic, and constitutional rights.
A notable aspect of the announcements was the Chief Minister’s strong advocacy for 6th Schedule status for the RHAC, a step that would provide the council with greater autonomy and official recognition. Furthermore, Dr. Sarma committed to protecting Tribal blocks and belts, with measures aimed at removing encroachments and maintaining territorial integrity.
These initiatives highlight a strategic focus on empowering the Rabha Hasong community by ensuring their rights and autonomy, while simultaneously fostering the region’s development. This approach aligns with a broader vision of inclusive growth and cultural preservation across Assam’s diverse communities, reflecting a dedication to both cultural heritage and progressive development.
