Unveiling the Truth: Police Probe Dubai-Based Gangster’s Role in Shocking Sambhal Violence
The Sambhal police are intensifying their investigation into last month’s violent protests, exploring potential foreign connections linked to a wanted local gangster, Shariq Satha. Six spent cartridges were found at the scene, one reportedly from Pakistan, suggesting possible external involvement. Police revealed that Satha, a notorious criminal with 54 cases across Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttarakhand, is suspected to be orchestrating his operations from Dubai, having allegedly fled India with a fake passport.
SP Sambhal, Krishan Kumar, confirmed Satha’s suspected role in the November 24 unrest, prompted by a survey at the Shahi Jama Masjid, which resulted in four deaths and numerous injuries. The police are actively seeking Satha’s local associates for questioning. Satha’s property in Sambhal has been confiscated under a court order due to his years of evasion.
In response to the violence, seven FIRs were filed, leading to the arrest of 50 individuals, while 91 remain on the run. The authorities are conducting raids to apprehend these fugitives, who have been lodged in jail upon capture.
The Samajwadi Party (SP) has also become involved, with a delegation visiting Sambhal to offer condolences and financial support to the victims’ families. They distributed `5 lakh cheques to the bereaved, as reported by SP’s Sambhal district president, Asgar Ali. This initiative followed a directive from SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, who tasked the delegation, including Sambhal MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq, to investigate the incident and report back.
The situation remains tense, as police continue their efforts to unravel the network behind the violence and bring those responsible to justice.
