Arunachal’s Leadership Shines: CM and Home Minister to Grace Donyi Polo Day Celebration on Dec 31 with Pride and Unity

Arunachal Pradesh is gearing up for a grand celebration of Donyi Polo Day 2024, set to take place on December 31. The celebration will be attended by prominent figures including Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Home Minister Mama Natung. The day, which involves offering prayers to the natural deities Donyi (the sun) and Polo (the moon), is observed statewide. The Donyi Polo Nyedar Namlo Organizing Committee, led by Chairman Nabam Ruja, is making extensive preparations for the event at Donyi Polo Nyedar Namlo in Kamak Nagar Pachin Colony.

Ruja has called upon all followers of the Donyi Polo faith to participate in the celebration, which underscores the importance of the indigenous traditions and spiritual practices of Arunachal Pradesh. The event will feature several ceremonial activities, including the opening of the Namlo, flag hoisting, and the dedication of the Namlo, which serves as a prayer center and a beacon of the state’s rich cultural heritage.

The event will also be graced by Dr. Emi Rumi, President of the Indigenous Faith & Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP), who will attend as a special guest. Former Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chief Patron of the celebration, Tai Tagak, will also be present, adding to the event’s prestige.

In a media address, Ruja lauded the Chief Minister for accepting the invitation, noting that his presence will serve as an encouragement to the believers of Donyi Polo. He emphasized the significance of the event in promoting indigenous culture and strengthening the community’s faith in traditional practices.

This annual celebration not only honors spiritual deities but also serves as a crucial effort to preserve and promote the diverse cultural fabric of Arunachal Pradesh, drawing attention to the state’s enduring traditions and communal harmony.
