Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha recently criticized former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for making unfounded allegations and misusing democratic freedoms. Dr. Saha’s remarks came in response to Sarkar’s assertions regarding the expenditure on the Tripura Tourism Promo Fest-2024. Sarkar had claimed that significant sums, including Rs 7 crore, were spent on the event, citing unverified sources. The festival, held for the first time to boost tourism, concluded with a performance by singer Shreya Ghoshal in Agartala.
In his defense, Dr. Saha dismissed Sarkar’s comments as inappropriate and an effort to mislead the public. He asserted that Sarkar’s claims about ministers potentially dancing at the event were baseless and only served to confuse citizens. Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of democracy and accused Sarkar of exploiting it by making misleading statements without proper evidence.
