Heartfelt Tribute: Bar Council of Gujarat Postpones Key Event to Honor Manmohan Singh’s Legacy | Ahmedabad News
In response to a week of national mourning for the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Bar Council of Gujarat has postponed the oath-taking ceremony for newly enrolled advocates, which was intended to take place on December 30th. The ceremony, expected to be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, has been put on hold after discussions between the Bar Council of Gujarat and the Bar Council of India. The event was set to welcome 9,000 advocates to the state’s roll for 2023 and 2024.
In related news, the Vishv Umiya Foundation in Ahmedabad has canceled its planned “Sanatan Dharm Jagruti Bike-Car Rally,” initially scheduled for Sunday. This rally, covering the route from Ranip to Umiyadham in Jaspur, was a precursor to the “Sanatan Parva Divya Hanumant Katha” event by Baba Bageshwar, scheduled from January 3 to 6 at the Vishv Umiyadham Temple in Jaspur. Foundation officials noted uncertainty about whether the Katha would proceed, with clarification expected soon.
These cancellations underscore the impact of the national mourning period, affecting planned public events across the region. The focus remains on adapting schedules and honoring the mourning period appropriately.
