Exciting Discovery: Similipal Tigress Found in Purulia’s Manbazar – Forest Officials Confident of Safe Tranquilization
A three-year-old tigress named Zeenat, who recently ventured out of Odisha’s Similipal National Park, has been located in Manbazar, Purulia, in a less forested area. This development comes after she was previously found in the Bandwan area. Forest authorities have cordoned off the location with nylon nets and imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNS to ensure public safety and facilitate the capture process. According to Purabi Mahato, the Divisional Forest Officer in Purulia, the relatively open terrain increases their chances of successfully tranquillizing Zeenat.
Efforts to secure the tigress involve setting up three cages in the Jhantipahar area of Manbazar, alongside placing a tranquilizer shooter in one of the cages. These measures aim to ensure the safe capture and subsequent return of Zeenat to a more secure habitat. The forest department remains vigilant and is coordinating closely with local authorities to manage the situation effectively, promising both the safety of the tigress and the local populace.
