Minister Prioritizes Fisheries and Animal Husbandry for Rural Development
Agartala, 27th December 2024: Fisheries and animal husbandry are central to rural development, emphasized ARDD Minister Sudhangshu Das at a district-level review in South Tripura. During the meeting held in Belonia at the Circuit House, Minister Das underscored the state government’s commitment to these sectors, crucial for economic advancement.
The meeting, focused on the Fisheries, Animal Resource Development, and Scheduled Castes Welfare Departments, aimed to evaluate the effective implementation of various projects. Minister Das noted the importance of ensuring these initiatives are delivering tangible benefits to the public. Additionally, he stressed the need for careful utilization of allocated funds in the current fiscal year to enhance outcomes, particularly in milk and fish production, through better resource management.
Effective coordination between officials and public representatives was a key topic, as this synergy is vital for successful project implementation. The meeting facilitated discussions on progress and challenges in the department’s activities. The Minister urged officials to promptly address any issues raised.
Attendees included prominent officials and representatives, such as South Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Dipak Dutta, Vice President Tapan Debnath, MLAs Mailaflu Mag, Swapna Majumdar, and Ashok Mitra, as well as Director of the Animal Husbandry Development Department Niraj Kumar Chanchal, and Director of the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department Jayant Dey. Other participants were District Magistrate Pradip Kumar, various Sub-Divisional Magistrates, BDOs, Panchayat Samiti Chairpersons, along with leaders from municipal councils and nagar panchayats, underlining the diverse representation aimed at fostering effective governance within these sectors.
The session began with a poignant moment of silence in honor of the late former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, setting a respectful tone for the discussions.
