Delhi Police’s Powerful Crackdown: 11 Arrested in Emotion-Charged Illegal Immigration Nexus Bust
The Delhi Police announced on December 24 that they had dismantled a gang responsible for the illegal immigration of Bangladeshi citizens. The operation led to the arrest of 11 individuals, five of whom are confirmed to be Bangladeshi nationals. The remaining suspects were involved in creating fraudulent documents, such as Aadhaar cards and voter IDs, through a counterfeit website.
This crackdown is part of a broader, intensive campaign by the Delhi Police to identify and address the issue of illegal immigration within the national capital. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South, Ankit Chauhan, revealed that the immigrants were facilitated by the gang to enter India using jungle routes and express trains. The syndicate aided them by producing fake identification documents necessary for assimilation.
In response to the growing concerns about illegal immigration, the Delhi Lieutenant Governor has instructed the Chief Secretary and the Commissioner of Police to initiate a two-month special operation. This initiative aims to identify and take stringent action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the city.
So far, the Delhi Police have identified over 1,000 illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. To accomplish this, they have conducted comprehensive door-to-door verifications, scrutinized documents, and carried out interrogations. Special teams, comprising both local police officers and foreign cell units, have been deployed for these targeted operations.
Overall, the Delhi Police’s efforts highlight their commitment to addressing the complex issue of illegal immigration, ensuring that all individuals residing in the capital are doing so lawfully and on legitimate grounds.
