Unlock Success: 5,850 Students Transform Futures with Chief Minister’s Mentorship Program
On December 16, 2024, the Chief Minister’s Mentorship Programme, a winter coaching initiative for 5,850 students in class X and XII, was launched in Gangtok at the Education Department’s conference hall. The programme aims to help students achieve a 100% pass rate in their board exams, running until January 25, 2025, across 134 centers statewide.
The launch was attended by prominent figures, including Education Minister Raju Basnet, Additional Chief Secretary R. Telang, and School Education Secretary Tashi Chophel, alongside district education officers, school heads, teachers, and students. The initiative is monitored by directors and officers from the Education Department headquarters.
R. Telang emphasized the importance of a supportive environment for student success and urged collective efforts from school management committees, teachers, and community leaders. The program’s goal is to create an exemplary success model, ensuring excellence through the mentorship program.
Education Minister Basnet underlined the dedication needed to overcome distractions during the festive season. He highlighted the significance of understanding exam patterns and focusing on crucial subjects like Science and Mathematics. The approach includes segregating students based on their learning levels for effective remedial teaching. Progress tracking and consistent feedback from teachers are key components to meet their ambitious goal.
Through coordinated efforts, Basnet expressed confidence in achieving their collective aim, setting a benchmark nationwide. School heads also shared their preparedness and strategic plans to reach the 100% pass target, marking a significant educational milestone for the state.
