Remarkable Decline in Northeast Insurgency: Jyotiraditya Scindia Hails 75% Surge in Arms Surrender
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized the significant decline in insurgency in Northeast India, highlighting a 70-75% increase in insurgents surrendering under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. In an interview with ANI, Scindia lauded the region’s impressive development and infrastructure advancements.
Addressing the conflict in Manipur, Scindia acknowledged its complex and longstanding nature, rejecting claims that it is a recent issue. He noted, “Manipur’s challenges have endured for 25-40 years. The central government, with the state’s cooperation, is fully dedicated to finding a peaceful resolution. We are engaging with all parties involved,” underscoring the government’s proactive approach to resolving the crisis.
Scindia also highlighted a significant reduction in violence, with conflict incidents in the Northeast dropping by nearly 80% over the last decade compared to previous years. He credited this decline to multiple peace agreements facilitated under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, describing these accords as “path-breaking.”
“The recent progress and development in the Northeast have been remarkable,” Scindia added, pointing out the government’s commitment to integrating the region into India’s economic growth narrative.
This transformation, he emphasized, reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring the Northeast’s development is woven into the larger national framework.
