Triumphant Victory: Rohan Jaitley Re-elected as DDCA President Sparks Excitement!
Rohan Jaitley has been re-elected as the president of the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA), securing a decisive win over former India cricketer Kirti Azad. At 35, Jaitley garnered 1,577 votes against Azad’s 777, with 2,413 votes cast in total. Jaitley needed 1,207 votes to claim victory. This marks another term for him after first assuming the presidency in 2020 when he was elected unopposed and later defeating advocate Vikas Singh in 2021.
In other key elections, Shikha Kumar, daughter of former acting BCCI president CK Khanna, claimed the vice-president’s role with 1,246 votes, topping competitors Rakesh Kumar Bansal (536) and Sudhir Kumar Agarwal (498). Ashok Sharma earned the secretary position with 893 votes, while Harish Singla was elected treasurer with 1,328 votes. Amit Grover will serve as joint secretary after receiving 1,189 votes.
The election also saw several individuals secure director roles: Anand Verma (985), Manjit Singh (1,050), Navdeep M (1,034), Shyam Sharma (1,165), Tushar Saigal (926), Vikas Katyal (1,054), and Vikram Kohli (939).
The election was not without controversy, as Kirti Azad, a member of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning squad and a current Trinamool Congress MP, accused the DDCA of corruption. This echoes historical tensions, as Jaitley’s late father, Arun Jaitley, had a lengthy 14-year tenure as DDCA president. As Rohan Jaitley steps into another term, the focus will be on how he addresses these allegations and steers the DDCA forward.
