Unlocking Innovation: How Cloud Transformation is Supercharging AI Adoption in Indian Firms
New Delhi, Dec 11: A significant shift towards cloud transformation is gaining momentum among Indian businesses, with nine out of ten deeming it essential for enhancing AI capabilities, according to an EY India report. Currently, 67% of Indian companies are moving applications to the cloud, underscoring a national commitment to innovation and efficiency. A majority, 80%, are adopting a hybrid model, managing applications both on cloud and on-premises. This approach provides flexibility and facilitates a gradual transition towards comprehensive cloud migration.
Abhinav Johri, Technology Consulting Partner at EY India, highlights this trend as more than a technological upgrade, describing it as a transformational shift that allows businesses to reimagine their operational models and offerings. Cloud technology’s integration with AI and machine learning (ML) has empowered companies to swiftly adapt to client demands and market changes, delivering enhanced solutions.
The report notes that 37% of Indian firms identify improved innovation as the primary benefit of native cloud development, as opposed to migrating from on-premises systems. Improved carbon emissions monitoring was cited by 29%, while 25% view skills gaps as a barrier, compared to 38% globally. Cybersecurity and budget constraints remain significant challenges.
Johri suggests that this rapid adoption could elevate India to a global leadership position, marking a critical wave of progress for the country’s technological landscape. As businesses harness cloud technology to integrate AI and ML, they stand to gain transformative benefits, driving product and service innovation. This development positions India’s firms at a pivotal advantage in the competitive global tech sector.
