Rajnath Singh’s Strategic Moscow Visit: Unwavering India-Russia Alliance Affirmed After Meeting With Putin
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during a recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reaffirmed India’s commitment to its partnership with Russia, underscoring the significant potential of their collaboration. Addressing geopolitical challenges and external pressures, Singh emphasized India’s deliberate decision to not only maintain but also deepen ties with Russia, assuring that “we will always be with our Russian colleagues.” He conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, further stating that the friendship between India and Russia transcends geopolitical challenges. President Putin expressed mutual respect, highlighting the trust between the two nations, and congratulated Singh on the commissioning of the Russian-manufactured INS Tushil into the Indian Navy.
Singh underscored the robust defence ties between the two countries and discussed opportunities for joint military hardware production. During discussions with Russian Defence Minister Andrey Belousov, Singh urged swift delivery of the remaining units of the S-400 Triumf missile systems, highlighting their importance to India’s defence capabilities. The talks, which were part of the 21st session of the India-Russia inter-governmental commission on military cooperation, also covered the maintenance of these missile systems in India. Singh reiterated India’s goal to strengthen its domestic defence industry through international partnerships. Earlier, in Moscow, Singh paid his respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and inspected a guard of honour at the Russian defence ministry.
