Exciting Milestone: Himanta Biswa Sarma Joyfully Unveils Lifesaving 100-Bedded Hospital and Oxygen Plant in Assam’s Golaghat
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a 100-bed Sarupathar Co-District Civil Hospital and an oxygen plant in Golaghat district, funded through the CSR fund of Numaligarh Refinery. Speaking at the event, CM Sarma emphasized the importance of the new hospital for the local community, highlighting its Rs 15 crore financial outlay and comprehensive facilities, including nine outpatient departments, an operation theatre, an emergency ward, and specialized units for newborn care, medicine, and pediatrics. The oxygen plant is expected to bolster critical care services during emergencies.
CM Sarma announced plans to enhance the hospital with advanced medical care and extend healthcare benefits to an additional 10,000 residents, which he believes will empower women in the co-district.
The event also marked advancements in Sarupathar’s sports infrastructure with the inauguration of an indoor stadium and the laying of the foundation for a swimming pool. The Rs 2 crore stadium features two synthetic badminton courts and two table tennis courts, while the swimming pool will be developed with Rs 75 lakh from Numaligarh Refinery’s CSR fund. CM Sarma expressed optimism that these facilities will inspire local youth and cultivate national and international-level athletes, akin to sports figures like Lovlina Borgohain and Nayanmani Saikia.
He urged parents to inspire their children to participate in sports, acknowledging its benefits for physical and mental health, which may aid in attaining roles in defense services. The event saw attendance from several dignitaries, including MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, MLA Biswajit Phukan, Olympian Lovlina Borgohain, and Commonwealth Medallist Nayanmani Saikia.
In a related development, CM Sarma also opened a rural stadium at Golaghat South Development Block, bolstering the area’s sports landscape through a Rs 2 crore investment.
